A sonic painting of electronic watercolors, Nekochan’s “Birds Underwater” offers a taste of her recently released EP, Bloodyful. Reveling in its trap inspirations, the album’s third track is steady enough for hip hop, though its weight may have been passed through a grinder and dissolved in liquid brass. Nekochan’s silvery voice refracts through hints of dream-pop to playfully manifest in variations reminiscent of Middle Eastern melodies.
