Check out this interview we had with her, it’s sure to move you in a positive direction.
WBM: In a few words, who is Michelle Avila?
MICHELLE: A mother, wife, fitness enthusiast, tattoo addict and Latina muse.
WBM: How long have you been involved with modeling and fitness competition?
MICHELLE: I have been involved with modeling since I was eighteen years old (not including castings my mother would take me to as a child). Although it was not until 2009, when I first started to compete in fitness pageants /competitions, that my modeling career would drastically take off.
WBM: When did you know that this was something that you wanted to pursue?
MICHELLE: Since I was a early teen I had a ton of outside encouragement from friends and family members to become a model. They would hear of contests or castings and promptly call and think of me.
WBM: What type of opportunity has your endeavors provided for you and your family?
MICHELLE: The health and fitness industry helped me to open up so many different doors in my career, but more importantly it helped me to look at the choices I was making much more clearly from a proper state of mind. Thus in the process leading a healthy lifestyle by example for my children, who’s health is of the up most importance to me not only because their my kids, but because they too are embarking on their own athletic careers.
WBM: How’d you get the nickname “Ms. Badness? What does that signify?
MICHELLE: Well more often times than not I am constantly referred to as “the bad ass” or “bad girl.” I’m guessing it’s due to my tattoos dark hair and edgy style with attitude. The name rolled off the tongue of a old acquaintance over a phone call conversation and I’ve kept it ever since.
WBM: What does a day in the life of Michelle Avila look like?
MICHELLE: On a average day you will most likely find me at the gym at some point of the day, mostly before 12 noon. I also run and update my own website www.MichelleAvila.com – www.MsBadness.com with two sets of image uploads a month I stay busy coordinating and styling various types of photo shoots, along with choosing the final image edits and coming up with a game plan for promotion and marketing. Or I am out and about driving my boys to and from school, wrestling and football practices, games or tournaments. All while trying to remember to not just eat, but prepare and consume meals of nutritional value throughout the day. So no going out to eat for a quick fix ppl…
WBM: What’s the best thing about being a model and fitness competitor?
MICHELLE: Being able to inspire and touch the hearts of many by doing something I LOVE.
WBM: How do you prepare for a fitness competition? Are you pulling fire trucks or bench pressing steel beams?
MICHELLE: Definitely not pulling fire trucks of any sort lol, but when I prep for competitions I normally like to start a strict diet consisting of raw fruits and veggies, lean proteins and starches (carbohydrates). Having 5-6 meals per day and training 5-6 days per week, sometimes including two a days for additional cardio sessions.
WBM: When not training, what does some of your down time consist of?
MICHELLE: Most of my down time consists of my mind running 120 miles per hour networking and making contacts outside of my hometown to further impact my career and brand. I am my only boss and employee so I keep myself pretty busy. My kids are the ones who help me to enjoy the present moment the most , so whenever I get a chance I try to cuddle up with them and watch movies or television to help relax my mind.
WBM: 2013 is quickly approaching, do you have any plans for next year?
MICHELLE: Absolutely ! I don’t want to spoil to much of the surprise but MsBadness.com is in the process of creating our very own clothing line and launching our online store in the near future so you can be on the lookout for that. I have also been cast to participate in a reality television series that is still in the very early stages of production. Make sure to follow me on any/all of my networks to stay updated with the latest news as it happens.
WBM: How else would you like to impact this planet with your efforts?
MICHELLE: Photography is my next direction. Although this time I want to be behind the lens rather than in front of it…
WBM: Any insight for those in pursuit of their goals and dreams?
MICHELLE: Never give up. Work hard. Believe. Be humble. Listen. Love. Don’t make the same mistake twice. Never settle. Be confident. Don’t get comfortable.
