A gentleman by any other name just isn’t enough. It’s in his walk, in his dress, where he dines. It lies in where he travels, as well as the means he takes to arrive there. To introduce to the world the lifestyle of the modern gentleman, Flawless Crowns has your first look into what was then, what’s now and what’s next.
So what exactly is next? Well, we’ll leave that up Martin Berrios. He’s the founder and editor of Flawless Crowns, and also our next WBM Feature. With some time to discuss the elements that style the life of this modern gentleman, Martin provides not only a look into his life, but also a life with a flawless crown.
WBM: Who is Martin Berrios?
MARTIN: Martin Berrios is a son, brother, husband, friend, uncle, cousin, writer, marketer, smoker, and connoisseur of all things fly.
WBM: Where are you from?
MARTIN: Born in Puerto Rico but I call New York City home.
MARTIN: I have a real passion for music, fashion, cigars, and branding. I also enjoy wine, travel, reading and fine dining.
WBM: What inspired you to develop the site Flawless Crowns?
MARTIN: I have always had a talent for writing. I was an entertainment journalist for many years and always wanted to launch my own website. I played around with the idea for many years. A lot of people were focusing on gossip and celebrity, and I wanted my site to be a unique experience to my readers. I decided to make it a true reflection of my interests and lifestyle. Flawless Crowns is a gentleman’s luxury website where I cover cigars, wine and spirits, fashion, automobiles, and more.
WBM: Who is your target audience?
MARTIN: Flawless Crowns speaks to the modern gentleman who appreciates the finer things in life. My intent is to feed their urge to live that lifestyle and at the same time educate those who might not be familiar to these experiences.
WBM: Why an online platform?
MARTIN: I have an extensive history in lifestyle journalism with a focus on creating marketable online content so it was a natural fit for me. Again, I wanted Flawless Crowns to be a natural extension of who I am.
WBM: How long have you been involved?
MARTIN: I launched Flawless Crowns in July 2010. We are soon approaching the first year anniversary, which encompasses a redesign of the site and a relaunch event.
WBM: What inspires you?
MARTIN: Success. I love succeeding; there is no better feel of accomplishment for me.
WBM: Who are some of your influences?
MARTIN: I have so many, but so few. It is hard for me to name names in this scope.
WBM: Define success?
MARTIN: I think change signals success. If you are able to change an individual’s thought process, whether through educating or influencing them, then you have already succeeded.
WBM: Biggest accomplishment?
MARTIN: Other than the most obvious, which would be making it to see today, I would say all things I have seen and experienced throughout my life have really given me an advantage. Putting these unique learnings to use have made me better in so many ways.
WBM: What type of impact would you like to make with Flawless Crowns?
MARTIN: The impact of impressing any reader who visits Flawless Crowns.
WBM: Anyone you like to work with in the future?
MARTIN: I think Steve Stoute is incredible. He is able to connect corporate brands to their target consumer seamlessly, without sacrificing his integrity. He is one person I can point to who embodies Flawless Crowns. He is very well connected and respected, and has a great eye.
WBM: Any advice for those looking to pursue their goals and dreams?
MARTIN: Plan your work and work your plan. Always put God first.
