WBM: Who is Jaeden Zoe?

JAEDEN: Jaeden Zoe is a French and African American pop artist that loves to reach new heights in music. She loves to explore many different sounds and take them on an adventure.

WBM: Where are you from?

JAEDEN: I am from Santa Monica, California, but reside in Brooklyn, New York.

WBM: Interest(s)?

JAEDEN: My interests are playing my guitar, creating new music, and just coming up with new ideas. I love writing: all kinds of writing, such as journal writing, lyric writing… I also love lounging out at my favorite places in New York City like Elmo’s and Vynl restaurants because of the loud music and the loud people. I love the atmosphere at those spots, especially during the nighttime. I also take an interest in fashion, so I love watching television shows or doing hands-on activities with getting to know what’s hot for different seasons because I am a fashion model as well.

WBM: What does music mean to you?

JAEDEN: Music to me is life, it is an adventure. You get to explore different sounds, different instruments, and basically create your own world with it. It is an escape from reality [that] gives you a chance to explore your own imagination and branch off to do many different things with it. Music feeds the soul because it is that powerful to the mind.

WBM: If you could describe your musical style in a few words what would it be?

JAEDEN: Inspiring, free spirited and fun.

WBM: How long have you been involved?

JAEDEN: I started out when I was just six years old, but I’ve been really interacting with producers, and DJ’s, and many other musically inclined people [since] I was thirteen.

WBM: What’s the best thing about being recording and performing artist?

JAEDEN: The best thing about recording is just being able to vibe out in your own world for a few hours and create something you want to share to the world. The best part about being a performing artist is just seeing the faces of so many different people, different races, all different styles come together and light up when you enter the stage, and just being able to hear the appreciation for your creativity through the screams from the crowd.

WBM: Let’s talk inspiration. What goes into the creation of your songs?

JAEDEN: I just adore life; I think life is beautiful, so mostly when I write music, the things around me inspire me to say the things I say lyrically. My character is defined through my music, so a lot of the inspiration I get is from what I adore and what I feel.

WBM: Are you a pen or pencil your songs down kind of girl?

JAEDEN: I am both. Sometimes I write my songs in my iPhone, other times I use a pen and paper. I can use both, but I do feel more comfortable writing my lyrics on paper; it’s like the old school note pad way (laughs).

WBM: Music and modeling–how do you balance the two?

JAEDEN: Music and modeling compliment each other. You have to have an imagination as a music artist anyway, so being that I am also a fashion model is a big plus because certain things like music videos or photo shoots for different magazines or interviews can be a little easier for me because I have the experience. Although runway modeling and performing as an artist [are] not so similar, I still got the practice of stage fright by just being in front of large crowds doing both performing and modeling.

WBM: Who is in your iPod or music player right now?

JAEDEN: I love Drake, Kanye West, B.o.b, Lily Allen, Imogen Heap, Olivia Broadfield, Maroon 5, Rihanna, and Nas. Some artists you may [have] not even heard of because they’re from the U.K., but I love them all!

WBM: Favorite song?

JAEDEN: My favorite dong is “Only got One” by Frou Frou.

WBM: Anyone you would like to work with in the future?

JAEDEN: I want to work with Drake or Kanye West because both artists paint pictures when they rap; they tell a story that you can see. It’s so amazing to me and I’m amazed about the things they rap about because they are so realistic and inspirational.

WBM: If you weren’t doing music, where else do your interests lie?

JAEDEN: If I wasn’t doing music, I’d probably be just modeling and styling people–that’s another thing I like to do as well but only on my own time.

WBM: What are your thoughts on success?

JAEDEN: My thoughts on success is stay focus, know what your aiming for, and stay creative because so many want success but have nothing to strive for. So I keep it simple and I say just aim for excellence, believe in yourself, and don’t let anybody tell you what you can and cannot do.

WBM: Biggest accomplishment?

JAEDEN: When I was younger, I always told myself one day I’m going to perform at Webster Hall, and just a couple months ago I had a chance to perform there, which inspired me so much because I really did it, and the crowd of people was amazing and was inspired by my sounds! That was a big accomplishment for me because it showed me that I am determined and that dreams do come alive.

WBM: What type of impact would you like to make with your music?

JAEDEN: I just want to spread positivity. I want to be very inspirational for all age groups, not only mine. I want people to feel good when they listen to my music and be able to relate. I want to let people know that beyond reality, there is life which is way more beautiful and I call that imagination.

WBM: What can the world expect from you musically this year?

JAEDEN: This coming year, 2013, I’m coming out with a project which is going to be amazing! The title I don’t want to speak about just yet, because I’m still in the stages of deciding. But there will be way more music videos, way more music, and of course a lot of shows!

WBM: Any advice for those looking to pursue their aspirations in music?

JAEDEN: My advice to those who want to be music artists is to be yourself, create your own sounds, and just stay focused.

WBM: What about for those looking to advance in modeling?

JAEDEN: My advice for inspiring fashion models is always stay beautiful and make the right decisions because it is a very tough world in modeling.
