Kimberle WInzeler exclaimed, “No gas, no electricity, no nothing!”, as she told me about the HearthCabinet, which was recently added to her showroom. Kimberle Winzeler, goes by Kim and is the owner of this unique high-end contemporary furniture gallery located in the River North area of downtown Chicago. Named after her grandmothers, “Pauline Grace” showroom offers a tremendous amount of variety. As Kim likes to consider her gallery a one-stop shop, for items that will last you longer than the average 2 years then to trash.
I went to visit her showroom to check out the HearthCabinet which she has on display for customers to shop around and customize it to their liking. The HearthCabinet Ventless Fireplace is very popular now in the Midwest and the flame is produced with gel cartridges. Investing in a HearthCabinet it has a custom exterior, where you can choose the color, even the options of rocks for the base.
It’s not your typical fireplace in your family room, if you move, so does your fireplace! Just be sure the room is well ventilated. The HearthCabinet does create heat. However, the flame goes out once you place the special plate over it, but the surface will get hot so DON’T TOUCH! This item is tested to UL standards and it’s becoming an alternative to the old fashion wood fireplaces everywhere. To answer the question, NO the HearthCabinet is not a real fireplace, but it creates a real flame.
Kim has only one model in her showroom, she says they are custom and she just wants customers to get a concept and create their own with the options available. Kim advised the HearthCabinet can also be move and used outside, how convenient…I LOVE bonfires! The cartridges last for about two hours, “Enough for a cocktail,” Kim said.
The HearthCabinet was made in NYC and ironically all of Kim’s Furniture/Home Goods are made in the U.S, but Kim does favor Italian designs. At Pauline Grace, Kim says she wants this generation to understand design, which is why she works closely with designers so fewer mistakes are made during selection.
Although, this ventless fireplace costs a pretty penny, I would agree with Kim about it being worth it. It is not your everyday fireplace and the moment your lease is up, you can take your fireplace along. It is toxic free and safer than a candle. There are several shapes and sizes for the HearthCabinet and on HearthCabinet.com you’ll find more decorative elements to choose from. So if you’re picking exactly what you want, it’s going to cost.
Price comes to mind when discussing any furniture, but Kim put it this way, “When you’re shopping for a nice sofa and find one but say, God, that’s expensive!—Well yeah, you sit on it all the time.”
Kim has a passion for home design, for she has been doing this for 30 years, this is her 3rd home for a showroom location in River North of Chicago and every time moves, she innovates a change. She says most of her upholstery can be customized which is why she’s contacted by designers to resolve a customer’s request issues. She likes to solve the designers issues and collaborate as much as she can.
Now, with the custom HearthCabinet in her showroom, shoppers are bound to get their way. Experiencing it for myself, Pauline Grace represents a one stop shop and right now the only location in Chicago with the HearthCabinet Ventless Fireplace. She says it is a popular item, but I really liked the adjustable glass coffee table she showed me. If you’re in Chicago and looking for furniture, Pauline Grace should be the first and last stop! You can check out the exclusive HearthCabinet at her gallery and her pieces on pauline-grace.com or come out and see for yourself on 122 W. Kinzie in Chicago, IL.
