On the late afternoon leading into the early evening of September 8th 2015, I found myself feeling like royalty. And honestly, who would turn down such treatment especially when you’re dining at il Principe, one of the most amazing Italian restaurants Manhattan has to offer.
Located in Hudson Square; a neighborhood closest to Tribeca, SoHo, and the West Village, il Principe is perfectly stationed on the ground level of Hotel Hugo on Greenwich Ave. The occasion: Bubbles & Bites. An invite only, special curated introduction to the newly added appetizers on il Principe menu paired with champagne (Moet, to be exact). The setting: private dining for tastemakers and writers in the greenhouse of the restaurant for an intimate gathering of palate tantalizing conversation.
On the menu:
Blini’s with Caviar and Crème Fraîche
Tartare di Tonno (My personal favorite)
Taking my tastebuds for a ride, the bites portion of the event had some pizzaz added to the mix. The chef infused some of the flavor and spice of the Philippines to the traditional Italian edibles to make the appetizers pop. I have not enough adjectives for the amount of delight experienced. The taste coupled with the the ambiance was indeed something to drive the senses crazy. And to top it off, sips of champagne in between.
