The Golden Globes was a fun event as usual. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler were brilliant as host, and hilarious. There were also some pretty big wins last tonight, and the acceptance speeches were funny as well. ‘The Hunger Games’ star Jennifer Lawrence won for best performance by an actress in a motion picture, musical, or comedy. Her response after getting the award and squinting while she read it was “What does this say? I beat Meryl!”
A few more exciting things happened that night. Mark Walhberg who’s the producer for ‘Boardwalk Empire’ attended The Globes with Diddy as his date. He said the two of them came together, because their working on a lot of projects together. Speaking of new projects for Mark we are really interested in seeing him in his role as the new lead for Michael Bay’s next ‘Transformers’ movie. Although Walhberg lost last tonight to ‘Homeland’ there were still some well deserved wins.
Anne Hathaway won Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture for her role as Fantine in the hit movie ‘Les Miserables’ that came out this past Christmas. She thanked her rival Sally Fields saying ‘I have to thank you so much for being a vanguard against type casting, because as the girl who started out as the princess of Genovia (in The Princess Diaries) I can’t tell you how encouraging it was to know that the Flying Nun grew up to be Mama Gump (in Forrest Gump) and Mary Todd Lincoln (in Lincoln)” She also thanked her mother who she saw play the role of Fantine when she was eight.
Adele also took home a Globe for Best Original Song-Motion Picture. She won the award for her work on the new James Bond theme song ‘Skyfall’. She beat some big names in the music industry like Taylor Swift, Jon Bon Jovi, and Keith Urban. Adele is also nominated for an Oscar this year for Best Original Song.
